Our Program

Clinical Summary

At Karuna Behavioral Health we focus on helping individuals strive to improve their overall health. Karuna Behavioral Health utilizes evidenced based practices such as CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and other targeted therapies to fit the population we work with.

Each patient will receive an individualized treatment plan targeting the main issues in their life. Our clinical program is designed to target important areas that directly impact an individual's overall mental health such as Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Substance Use, OCD, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, as well as other common mental health related issues.

We ask for an 8 week commitment from patients to ensure consistent progress and optimal outcomes in their treatment. The program meets 3 days per week and the program also consists of 1 hour of individual counseling per week with a licensed mental health counselor throughout the 8 week program. Our program focuses on the 7 dimensions of wellness to ensure all areas of health are improved throughout the clients time in the program.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is designed for patients who are seeking further support from other individuals who are going through similar challenges in their life. Group therapy is led by a masters level group facilitator who is there to provide guidance to the group members as well as lead the group to relate through shared experiences. There are three main types of group therapy.

Psychoeducational Group- An education focused group led by a trained professional with a goal of presenting new and thought provoking ideas in an easily digestible format.

Process Group- An open formatted group allowing patients to share their experiences, thoughts, and feelings, and receive feedback from both trained professionals and their peers.

Experiential Group- An activity based group where patients are expected to be active participants while working through solutions in both solo and collective settings.

At Karuna Behavioral Health we will utilize the three main types of group therapy and allow for self expression and connection with the topics covered. Groups will be tailored around one of our 8 main weekly themes. These 8 weekly themes have been selected specifically to provide a comprehensive and well rounded program that is easily relatable to all patients.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy consists of a conversation between the therapist and patient to first determine what the patient needs assistance with as well as what their goals are for coming to therapy. Once the goals have been determined and potential barriers have been identified, a treatment plan is made using this information that outlines the patient’s journey over the next 8 weeks. The treatment plan will consist of goals, objectives, and interventions created specifically to provide an individualized approach to patient care.  Patients should expect individual sessions to last between 45 to 60 minutes. Individual therapy provides a safe and confidential environment for the patient to have an opportunity to share with their therapist what has been troubling them the most, and allow both patient and therapist to work through problems together.

At Karuna Behavioral Health, our expertly trained therapists will work with the patient to ensure they are given an individualized approach to their problems. Our therapists have experience working with patients from many backgrounds and situations allowing for a comfortable, safe, and empowering environment for the patient to grow. Our therapists utilize evidence based approaches and assessments to determine the course of treatment and how to properly manage and address the issues of our patients.
